Anyways...
Right now I'm working on the Vintage Vogue 1954 dress. My only concern is that I may end up looking like a Betty Draper Cupcake. We shall see...
I started last night after getting home from JoAnn's and purchasing this incredibly beautiful light blue floral print fabric (on sale!). I used a vintage 1950s crinoline underneath that I took out of a vintage dress I'm doing some work on. The crinoline has a top portion with boning in it, that fastens in the back, so it gives the dress a little more structure which is good because the fabric is very silky and doesn't hold up the way I want it to. I have to do something about the length of the crinoline, I may just pin it up a little bit when I wear this dress.
This is sort of the mock up right now. The bodice has yet to be attached, the buttons are pinned on, and there is a lot of much needed hemming to be done. I definitely have my hands full with this one. I may want to try this pattern again with a nice piece of cotton because, despite how pretty this fabric is, it's a nightmare.
And I still have a million things to photograph tomorrow!
Happy sewing!

You would look amazing as a Betty Draper Cupcake. I would pay to see that.
ReplyDeleteThis fabric is really lovely. I wish I could find fabric like that here in Europe... they don't seem to like the pretty feminine fabrics here. The dress looks wonderful! even when it is incomplete!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leah!
ReplyDelete@Mahalia, Really? I'm surprised! Everyone needs some pretty feminine fabric in their life!
