DIY scarf tank in 20 minutes!

So, I made this tank the other day in twenty minutes! All you have to do is take a tank that you already own that fits, and trace it's shape out onto jersey knit fabric. Once you assemble the tank, cut out a large triangle, pin it to the neckline and sew. Simple and awesome!

Outfit details:

Tank: Handmade
Trousers: H&M
Flats: Old Navy
Necklace: H&M

Thanks to Jake for the photo!

DIY Summer Dress

I finally got around to sewing from scratch again and I've been extremely prolific. I made this dress from a $1 thrift store scarf! I created it by draping the fabric and cutting. It has two layers and features an elastic waist. I purposely made the top asymmetrical for a more punk rock look. Love it!

Vedette Shapewear Giveaway!

Outfit Details:
Blazer: Vintage/thrifted via AIDS Thrift, Philadelphia
Belt: H&M
Skirt: Urban Outfitters
Tube Socks: Ebay
Boots: Doc Martens Store Philadelphia
Sunglasses: Buffalo Exchange

I created this outfit around the beautiful Vedette Sensuale Collection Viveka Bustier. As soon as I saw it the punk rock chick inside of me yelled "Now THAT would go great with some big old boots!" This bustier is gorgeous. It's very ladylike but at the same time it's tough and edgy. I wouldn't want to mess with someone wearing one of these, it's fierce! Also, it defines my shape and gives me some nice pin up girl worthy vavoooom! If you know what I mean ;)

And to top it off, it goes seamlessly with my weird wardrobe/style.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everyone!

This was my outfit today. Unlike the rest of the world I didn't get the memo to wear red, white and blue or some configuration of those colors. Neon leopards work, right? Sorry, no tripod/remote today. I was out on location for a photo shoot that didn't really pan out.

Also, I have been singing this Bill Callahan song to myself all day long. It's highly appropriate.

AMERICA!

What are you guys up to on Independence Day?

SHOP LOCAL: Retrospect Vintage

If you're looking for a place to buy unique and interesting vintage pieces, look no further than one of my Philly favorites, Retrospect. With a store window that is expertly styled and decorated, it beckons you into an even more stylish interior full of amazing vintage finds. I've been shopping at Retrospect for a couple years and I always find something that fits my personal style. They have racks upon racks of both men's and women's clothing and shoes as well as assorted kitsch.

A bright store front!

An adorably styled outside store display.

Retrospect has a fun and eclectic interior perfect for browsing!

I chatted with the lovely Emily who works at Retropect. She was wearing the cutest vintage summer dress that she got from the store. What a great retro summer look!

If you're around, check out Retropect Vintage located on 508 South Street in Philadelphia.

Around Town: Street Style

Today is major Bummer City. I had a couple photo shoots scheduled on South Street today and both were no shows. Yes, I love standing around with all my camera gear looking like a crazy person. Luckily it gave me a chance to work on capturing some local street style. Also, walking up to people you don't know and asking to take their picture feels pretty ballsy. But I'm getting better at it. 99% of the time they say yes and are really nice. The other 1% just yell at you or walk away real fast.

Here's some lovely Philly locals looking awesome:

These handsome lads were standing outside of Infinite Body Piercing (a favorite place of mine). I really dug their cool t-shirts and sneakers and the fact that they let me bother them on their smoke break. I'm pretty sure the guy on the left pierced my nose once. Anyways, thanks for the photo guys!

This is Hannah. I saw her on the other side of the street and ran over to ask to take her picture. I love her carefree DIY rocker style...and her hair is amazzzing! She was so sweet and really rocked her personal style.

This guy was hilarious. I didn't quite get his name... But he seemed really excited about letting me take his picture, and even posed for me (and shook my hand afterwards, haha!) I really liked his DIY punk style...look at those jeans, they're awesome! Also, I totally am digging the Japanese hardcore/punk shirt. Way to go, dude!

What do you think about these stylish locals?

Trash Planet + Sugarlips Apparel

Wow, so excited to have this post sponsored by Sugarlips Apparel! Their clothes are amazing awesome sauce! They sent me the beautiful Kyoto Japanese Maxi dress which has given me some ultimate street fashion cred. I took this amazing dress for a test run while running some errands around Center City. So many people stopped me on the street to comment on how cool they thought the dress was and where they could find one like it. It's so unique and elegant and perfect for summer.

With the help of the amazing Jake, we styled and shot the dress late at night in front of a brightly lit up nail salon on Fairmount Avenue. The styling was inspired by Geishas and Anime (with a name like Kyoto Japanese Maxi Dress, what else would you possibly do?). Check it out!

I wore the dress with 5" wedge heels from MODA, and my little Geisha Girl necklace from Plato's Closet. Add in a $7 parasol from Chinatown and you've got a rockin' outfit!

You can purchase this dress here.

ba babes!

Self-portrait time.
Had a very creative weekend!

Trash Planet + Vedette Shapewear: Day to Night Look

Trash Planet is honored to have this post sponsored by the amazing Vedette Shapewear. I am styling their ZOE waist cincher from their Basic line for both a day and a night look. I absolutely adore this bright blue beauty. It's vibrant and goes perfectly with my kooky style.

DAY LOOK:

I wore the piece over a bright aqua tank top and jeans paired with a bright cardigan and vintage hot pink heels for an "artsy pin up" look. This is something I'd wear every day. To a photo shoot, out to lunch...or meeting up with friends.

NIGHT LOOK

From photo shoot to punk rock show! I paired the piece with my favorite vintage prom dress, neon tights and Doc Martens for an edgy punk rock look perfect for rocking out on stage or in the pit. It's kooky but 100% me!

Shapewear isn't just for hiding under your clothes! I love my beautiful shapewear piece. It can transition between night and day so easily because it's more than just a statement piece. It's simple and elegant enough that it can be dressed down for a casual look, or dressed up for a glam  night look! I love the ZOE waist cincher because it's bright, eye catching and gives my curves some definition! It's so well made and built to last.

Innerwear as outerwear is fun! Why hide such beautiful pieces under your clothes? Just like your personality, let them stand out!

Check out all of the beautiful shapewear at Vedette Shapewear's online store and try wearing one as outerwear yourself!
